2023 ANNUAL SHOW

Thankfully , the weather gods were smiling on us for the show this year, with our exhibitors welcomed to a chilly but dry Kyneton day. Beth, Graham and Katie ensured all birds were penned by 9am with our judges starting work shortly after.

Special thanks to our stewards on the day, particularly those from our club: Vince, Wayne, Mario and Beth, who helped ensure that the judging process ran smoothly.

We had some beautiful birds on display, with all categories hotly contested. Team Ballarat came to win, and they did with Peter Ronzio, Ballarat Poultry Club's president, taking out a stack of prizes, including Reserve Champion Bird with his Black Red Modern Game Cockerel. Daniel Armeni, also from Ballarat, also walked away with several soft feather prizes with his lovely White Leghorn Cockerel and Reserve Champion Waterfowl with his Indian Runner. Courtney Armeni also won Champion Junior with her Modern Game Cockerel.

Lachland Park Poultry Stud won Champion Bird of Show with their beautiful Pekin Drake.

It was really wonderful to see so many Junior exhibitors entering birds this year, we had a total of 62 entries in that category. It was great to see so many children wanting to get involved in poultry and many of the entries were in fantastic condition. Special mention goes to Archie Devey, who won the Junior Encouragement Award and Best Rare Breed of the Show with his Brahma.

This show wouldn't have been possible had it not been for a small number of dedicated volunteers who made it happen. Beth, Katie and Graham put hours into the show logistics including pen bookings, allocations and judges sheets. The shed crew made sure our shed was immaculate for the event, and that the Watts Pavilion was ready and able to receive our lunch guests. Pam and her small team of helpers up in the Watts Pavilion put on an amazing lunch. Special shout out to our President Pam - without her we would be lost!

Until next year!
